EMDR is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. It is known today as one of the most effective therapeutic techniques in the treatment of traumatic memories.
EMDR uses an eight steps protocol as well as bilateral stimulation (eye movement, tactile or sound stimulation) to help desensitize and reprocess painful memories.
The technique allows us to access parts of the brain where traumatic memories are stored. We then artificially recreate a physiological process to help desensitize memories.
EMDR is also effective in treating PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorders, grief, chronic illness, pain, medical issues and addictions.
